AmeriNZ 91 – Monique Rhodes

Episode 91 is now available, and it’s free no matter where you get it from. You can listen to it or download it through the player at the bottom of this post, or subscribe for free through iTunes here (you must have the free iTunes player installed). You can also listen to it for free through the player on my MySpace page.

Today’s special guest is New Zealand singer/songwriter, Monique Rhodes.

We talk about Monique’s music, her career, and her debut album, “Awakening”. Monique uses many online avenues to promote her music, and we talk a bit about the opportunities the online world offers to independent musicians.

Monique lives in France most of the year, so we even talk a bit about being an expat. Naturally, we talk about New Zealand as well, along with some of what influenced Monique’s development as a singer/songwriter.

She was wonderful to visit with, and I thoroughly enjoyed our chat. I also really enjoy her music. You can buy it through her website, www.moniquerhodes.com, as well as through iTunes. Complete links are below

  1. Got the Melissa Etheridge vibe from the first song. Not that that is a bad thing! I particularly enjoy hearing from artists that have maintained a sense of humility and “realness” as opposed to taking on the typical “diva” qualities so many others do.

I’ve been hearing a lot about house concerts here as well…it’s an interesting concept. A couple of my favorite indies are taking on the house concept.

    Great show Arthur.

  2. I’ve been having better luck getting your downloads to your podcasts on iTunes of late , with the singular exception of #91, which I couldn’t get until I got zen about it. I stopped trying and eventually, maybe after I got #92, #91 just loaded.

  3. (F)reddy: It’s interesting to me the different sounds different people hear, especially in artists they’re not familiar with. But I heard the Melissa Etheridge vibe, too–along with a lot more, of course! I agree: he idea of house concerts sounds really interesting, and a greta way for artists to really connect with their audience at the same time they’re building it.

Roger: Zen! I love it! Yes, I posted this episode right at the same time that Podomatic was “upgrading”, so there were many people who had problems downloading it. Once the move of the podcast is completed, that should stop–I hope!
