AmeriNZ 247 – Tomato sauce

Today I have a few things I forgot to mention last time, and comments give me the opportunity to expand some more. But I start with some items from the New Zealand news before my first “Election Watch 2011” report.

AmeriNZ 246 – Home truths

I start today with a couple items from the news in this part of the world: A major cyclone about to hit Queensland and also the NZ prime minister has just announced the date of the 2011 NZ elections. But the main topic, about NZ houses, was inspired by a phone message. Comments, and my responses, are extensive (which I always like).

AmeriNZ 245 – Birthday boy

It’s my birthday! And I’m podcasting, so YOU get the present! (just kidding). But since it’s my birthday, I talk about me. Luckily, this episode is shorter than normal! Did you know I have two birthdays? Moose worked that out. Mostly I just tell you what I’ve been up to this week. It gives you a small glimpse of part of a typical week. And that’s about it really.

AmeriNZ 244 – And resume

I’m back after my summer holiday. First up, things in the New Zealand news, including the mine disaster and a controversy about free WiFi. Then it’s time for updates about my favourite topic—me! Yes, I’m kidding. After talking a bit about the holidays, it’s on to the arrival of our new furbaby, Sunny. I have a plethora of phone messages (an advantage to being away a month!), then a written comment. I mention Christmas cards, too—including next year.

AmeriNZ 243 – And relax

I’m finally back after a huge amount of work, and can finally relax. Time to update things! I begin with some updates about the podcast, including that I’m not going to do a live show in December or January and probably not after that, either. Then it’s on to updates about things in the New Zealand news, including the mine disaster. I have an update about us, too.

Nigel may do his The Third Colony show on Saturday, December 18 at 9pm EST (Americas; 3pm Sunday, December 19 NZDT).

AmeriNZ 242 – Subdued

I’m subdued today, and mostly because of my main topic, the Pike River mine disaster. I’m not as boisterous as I usually am, so I thought about not posting this. But then I realised that most people don’t hear shows around holidays, so it almost amounts to the same thing! (j/k). After that, I talk a bit about what’s going on with me and the podcast, play a phone message, talk about a comment, and I’m done.

There’s no live AmeriNZ Podcast this week, but I’ll be back next week with a regular episode (and topics!). My live show will be back in two weeks.

Be sure to listen to Nigel on The Third Colony, Saturday, November 27 at 9pm EST (Americas; 3pm Sunday, November 28 NZDT).

AmeriNZ 241 – Spring cleaning

I begin with a sort of update on what’s ben going on with me lately. Read between the lines, and you’ll get why I haven’t been podcasting much lately. Among my updates, I placed my first Amazon order for dead tree books. We’ll see how it goes. Meanwhile, I’ve been pretty “meh!” about politics, which is really weird for me. I also haven’t been that into NZ news. I have many phone messages this time, and they let me talk about other stuff, including stuff I reveal. After written comments, I talk a bit about where the live show is headed.

AmeriNZ 239 – Fifteen

Today is my 15th expataversary and anniversary, so I talk about that first. Then, updates to a couple topics I’ve talked about on the podcast before I move on to the main topic today: Comments. They’ve piled up a bit, so today I clear out the inbox. You’ll see why I NEVER use a written script. Yeah, that’s a good thing. Still, that lets me comment on a bunch of different stuff. Finally, I tell you a bit about the transition to the new Auckland.

Join me for the next AmeriNZ LIVE podcast on Pride 48, scheduled for Thursday, November 4 at 8:00pm EDT Americas (1:00pm Friday, November 5 NZ time). This is subject to change, however.

AmeriNZ 238 – Stop thinking in bumper stickers

This show was recorded live on Pride 48, with guests Daniel Brewer, Brother Cinaedus, Veritable Virgo and my husband Nigel.

What does a bad knee have in common with politics? Daniel launches the discussion with that, and we get into a bigger discussion of what’s wrong with US politics, and people’s attitudes toward it, what needs to happen, and more. We even look at some specific races and issues surrounding “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”.

I’ll be back for another AmeriNZ LIVE podcast on Pride 48 Thursday, November 4 at 8:00pm EDT (Americas, 1:00pm Friday, November 5 in NZ). I’m going to try a different mic next time—and I’ll start making these shorter, too.

AmeriNZ 237 – Lowercase r

Today’s episode is weeks in the making—meaning, I started it innumerable times (you have no idea). I begin with some updates: The local elections, then updates on a couple politicians who have fallen from grace—they’re very different in every way. Next, I move on to some talk about podcasting, Pride 48 and some of the results of last week’s live show. There were some things that came out of that live show that I‘ll be adding. Then it’s on to the main topic, which begins with a lowercase “r”. There’s a lot to that topic, actually.

Join me for the next AmeriNZ LIVE podcast on Pride 48, Thursday, October 21 at 8:00pm EDT (Americas, 1:00pm Friday NZ).

Also, be sure to listen to Nigel LIVE on The Third Colony Saturday, 9-11pm Eastern (in the Americas, 2pm Sunday in New Zealand) on qnation.fm. Go to The Third Colony website for how to listen, or to join the chatroom.
