2PP012 – 30 July 2009

2PP_Album_art_smallWe start with a story from Jason about his century (I share my stories on AmeriNZ Podcast) before moving on to Jason’s special days. The silly news this week is about the “birthers”, the crazy conservative opponents of President Obama. Then it’s on to real news, healthcare reform. Arthur is adamant that the right wing lies and distortions have to be challenged. We also talk about various aspects of the reform effort, and its opponents.

AmeriNZ 169 – A Special Edition

amerinz_podcast_150x150Fellow podcaster Big Fatty asked podcasters to do a special show for July 29—the National Day of the Faroe Islands. It’s a good idea—so good, I did one last year! So today I simply repeat that episode—or the relevant part, anyway.

The next new podcast will be 2Political, tomorrow or the next day.

AmeriNZ 168 – Assorted miscellany

amerinz_podcast_150x150This is just a nattercast today, since I won’t have time tomorrow. I start with some updates (this IS a personal journal podcast!) and go on to other bits and pieces. It’s another cornucopia today! I have a little bit of a downer toward the end, but my reason for bringing it up is positive.

AmeriNZ 166 – Into the breach

amerinz_podcast_150x150It’s the 40th anniversary of the moonlanding! I start by talking a bit about that. Then, it’s clearing up a few things about Pride 48: I’ll be doing more live shows, some like the three recent ones, but also maybe group discussions of particular topics. What do you think? Then it’s on to comments, which have kind of piled up. I have brand-new theme music for phone comments! Why not call the line so I can play it again?

2PP011 – 16 July 2009

2PP_Album_art_smallJason’s special days begin the show, and we get into discussions right then. Governor Quitter us up next, then it’s on to real news: The crazy opposition to the Supreme Court nomination of Sonia Sotomayor. Arthur prefers liberal justices (even though Sotomayor isn’t one). We then move on to healtcare reform and then the economy. We got out first 5-star review on iTunes! Arthur was feeling a little under the weather today, but says that Jason more than made up for it.

AmeriNZ 165 – AmeriNZ LIVE

amerinz_podcast_150x150This is a LONG episode! It’s the recorded version of a live show Nigel and I did on the Pride 48 Stream on Saturday afternoon, which was Friday evening in North America. We thought more people would be able to take part than last time, and we were right! This is a show about nothing, just a chat among a variety of folks—not all of them podcasters.

If we do this again, they’ll either be shorter or I’ll split them, but this time I didn’t plan for that. There are a few other minor details to perfect, too—like content, for example. Seriously, it was all just a bit of fun, and completely different from the regular podcast. It’s nice to take a break sometimes.

Also on this episode:

Daniel Brewer of Dubious Intent podcast.
Nessa of Stars & Tartan podcast.
David from That Blue Jeans Guy podcast.
Wes Stone of the Live it up! podcast.
Steven from Wisconsin also joins us.

Podcasting live—again!

Tomorrow I’ll be podcasting live on Pride48.com. The live podcast begins at 9PM Eastern US on Friday, July 10, 2009, which is 1PM Saturday, July 11 in New Zealand. The Pride 48 site allows you to change the time listings to your own time zone. Nigel will be joining me. There’s also a chatroom where you can interact with us while we podcast.

I plan on recording this so I can post it later, but why take a chance on missing out? Join us live!

AmeriNZ 164 – Normal Again

amerinz_podcast_150x150I have some general updates today, including a Pride 48 wrap-up, but I begin with my main topic, work visas for New Zealand and how the recession is affecting people who have them. A special feature today as an homage to the Pride 48 Aftershow—hours condensed to a 1:35 sampling.

2PP010 – 1 July 2009

2PP_Album_art_smallIt’s out tenth 2Political episode! Jason’s special days begin the show, and Arthur follows that with a Pride 48 recap. We talk about Republicans’ problems with malfunctioning zippers. Minnesota finally has two senators! Talk of a “super majority” for Senate Democrats is over-blown. We then talk about a Republican nut in Maryland and other nutty Republicans—as well as hyperbole in political debate. Where is the US’ opposition party? The Supreme Court also gets a look. Finally, we have comments on our previous episode. That raises topics we discuss
