AmeriNZ 155 – Today is tomorrow

amerinz_podcast_150x150It’s been nearly two weeks since my last solo podcast, so I thought today I’d update some things. I start by telling you what we did for Mothers’ Day (Fathers’ Day in NZ/Aus is the First Sunday in September). As winter begins, I tell you about news items: First, Auckland was ranked the fourth most liveable city in the world (Kiwis don’t care about that, really). Another survey found New Zealand was the 8th happiest country in the world out of ten. New statistics are out about marriages and civil unions. Who would the New Zealand Prime Minister “turn gay” for?

May is New Zealand Music Month, and if I can locate enough podsafe artists I may put together an episode sometime before the end of the month. At the end of June, I’ll be joining other GLBT podcasters in Pride48 in which we’ll all be doing live-streaming shows over Pride Weekend, starting at 7pm US Eastern Time on June 26. I don’t know what time I’ll be doing the live show, but I’ll let you know. There will also be a live chatroom so you can chat with me and other listeners.

AmeriNZ 154 – Adaptation

amerinz_podcast_150x150I begin today with a bit about swine flu in New Zealand, since it’s been in the news internationally. Then it’s on to a normal topic, one suggested by a listener: How I was able to adapt to New Zealand’s more British-based spelling and word usage. A phone message and written comments finish this episode.

Special note: After I recorded this, three of the Auckland flu cases I mentioned were confirmed as swine flu. There are now fourteen cases of Influenza A in Auckland, one of which is a person on the same flight as the previous 12 cases. There are a further 31 possible cases of Influenza A in New Zealand. Authorities currently have 179 people around the country in quarantine. These numbers will change.

AmeriNZ 153 – After the holiday

amerinz_podcast_150x150Easter and our holiday are over, so it’s back to normal. I begin by talking about some useless information about Easter, then a bit about our time off. Then, finally, I tell you a bit about the new Auckland, and that features some special commentary. Be back later this week with a 2Political Podcast.

AmeriNZ 152 – Quality of Life

amerinz_podcast_150x150What do Kiwis think of their lives? A new government survey tells us. I also tell you about a kind of unusual topic for me. But I start today with an update on my podcasting schedule as well as a couple of life updates. You can find out the time in New Zealand on my site! Be back on Wednesday (NZ time) with a 2Political Podcast.

AmeriNZ 150 – Two Years

amerinz_podcast_150x150Two years! Today’s episode would have had an audio file, similar to episode one, but it couldn’t happen. I talk briefly about that subject before moving onto the breaking news I alluded to last time (and Jake makes an appearance in the background). From there, it’s on to anniversarium comments and more comments. I actually received some as I was working on this episode, so I finish it after a few wines—good move or not? You be the judge. In any event, the number of messages I received kinda changed the way I did this episode, but I don’t mind at all. Thank you for two years of wonderful times. I deeply appreciate it!

AmeriNZ 149 – Penultimate Episode

amerinz_podcast_150x150It’s Thursday, so that makes this my penultimate episode, since tomorrow is my over-hyped Second Anniversary/150th episode. I begin today with some more updates, starting with a pretty big one. Did you know there was a reason I picked all the small topics this week? I get caught up on comments, too, which lets me expand on earlier topics.

Mentioned today:
Clark role puts her third in UN hierarchy.
Craig Horner photos.
Legend of the Seeker.

AmeriNZ 147 – End of the World

amerinz_podcast_150x150Today is the start of Anniversary Week! The AmeriNZ Podcast will be two years old at the end of the week, and to celebrate I’m planning to podcast every day this week (though Wednesday will be a 2Political episode). I talk today about some of the realities of living at “the end of the world” (from a US or European perspective). I also share what may be a sign of the other meaning of the phrase—the end of everything.

The other is Earth Hour where you can vote for earth by switching off your lights for one hour on Saturday, March 28 (8.30pm to 9.30pm your local time).

AmeriNZ 131 – Podcasting in December

It’s been ten days since my last podcast, and I’ve been under enormous pressure to put out a new episode (Archerr). Seriously, I’ve been very busy for the past couple weeks or so, and today was the first chance I’ve had to record. Maybe I should’ve waited a little longer (I was a bit silly—well, for me, anyway).

So first I give some updates, including about our Thanksgiving. I also talk a bit about our plans for Christmas. I even tell you about Canadian politics! Well, you just never know what will turn up on the AmeriNZ Podcast!
