2PP_Album_art_smallThis is the final episode posted to the AmeriNZ Podcast feed! Subscribe to the 2Political Podcast by clicking on the iTunes button at the bottom of this post, or directly: http://feeds2.feedburner.com/2politicalPodcast. Thanks for your support!

A few more housekeeping bits start us out today—including that we’re now recording roughly every ten days instead of two weeks. Then, after Jason’s Special Days, it’s on to today’s topic, healthcare. We begin with the president’s speech, then move on to the state of the debate. Along the way, Arthur delivers a small rant about healthcare, the debate and distractions; after that, you’ll understand where he’s coming from.

2PP_Album_art_smallWe begin today with a few housekeeping bits, then Jason offers to rebrand the Republican Party—a sort of truth in labelling, you could say. Special Days are next, then it’s on to the topics of the day—the state of the campaign for healthcare reform, the crazy people and the extent to which the mainstream newsmedia has made things worse. We also talk about liberals’ impatience with Obama. Will the Republicans be able to capitalise on all this in the next election? The truth is, no one knows or can know this far away. The September 11 anniversary is this Friday, so we talk a bit about where things are now. That brings us back to Republican distortions.

2PP_Album_art_smallAfter Jason’s special days, we have some final thoughts on the elevation of Sonia Sotomayor to the US Supreme Court, which is why this episode starts with the audioclip. From there it’s on to the main topic, the debate over healthcare reform, and we have another audio clip. To wrap up, Arthur has another silly story from the conservative fringe. After a couple phone messages, we’re done. Can you guess what saved our phone number for another two weeks beyond what the phone messages gave us?

2PP_Album_art_smallWe start with a story from Jason about his century (I share my stories on AmeriNZ Podcast) before moving on to Jason’s special days. The silly news this week is about the “birthers”, the crazy conservative opponents of President Obama. Then it’s on to real news, healthcare reform. Arthur is adamant that the right wing lies and distortions have to be challenged. We also talk about various aspects of the reform effort, and its opponents.

2PP_Album_art_smallJason’s special days begin the show, and we get into discussions right then. Governor Quitter us up next, then it’s on to real news: The crazy opposition to the Supreme Court nomination of Sonia Sotomayor. Arthur prefers liberal justices (even though Sotomayor isn’t one). We then move on to healtcare reform and then the economy. We got out first 5-star review on iTunes! Arthur was feeling a little under the weather today, but says that Jason more than made up for it.

2PP_Album_art_smallIt’s out tenth 2Political episode! Jason’s special days begin the show, and Arthur follows that with a Pride 48 recap. We talk about Republicans’ problems with malfunctioning zippers. Minnesota finally has two senators! Talk of a “super majority” for Senate Democrats is over-blown. We then talk about a Republican nut in Maryland and other nutty Republicans—as well as hyperbole in political debate. Where is the US’ opposition party? The Supreme Court also gets a look. Finally, we have comments on our previous episode. That raises topics we discuss

2PP_Album_art_smallJason’s special days are just fun ones today—nothing too serious, which is good, because we start today with a real nutcase and I follow that with something from another. This leads to a discussion of extremists, both on the left and the right. How does extremism relate to terrorism? One of the extremist groups we talk about is in trouble in Australia. We also talk about the influence of the right wing media. There’s also some New Zealand political news this week!

After the discussion, we have comments on our previous episode. That raises topics we discuss. Finally, Arthur provides an update on swine flu in New Zealand.

2PP_Album_art_smallAs always, we begin with Jason’s special days, but today we have a VERY special day! From there, it’s a discussion of the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor. What do we think about the Supreme Court make-up? Arthur watched Faux News, and that relates to the president’s trip to the Mideast. Arthur corrects Faux News, which is easy to do. Arthur has a special adventure to share, one that relates to our previous episode.

2PP_Album_art_smallWe begin with Jason’s special days, but today’s episode is mostly a discussion with our first guest, Peter (aka epilonious). We look at civility on the Internet, the origins and implications of the lack of civility. It’s a wide-ranging discussion, and other political issues come up, too, including how to deal with religious arguments. We wrap up with our advice and strategies for avoiding “uncivility wars” on the Internet.
