amerinz_podcast_1400x1400-2016Political upheaval, people leaving, people arriving—but this is about New Zealand. There were big changes this week, and there may be some more. This is my main topic this episode.

I’ve been sick lately, which kept me from podcasting and blogging. This was my third bad cold this winter, but that’s happened before. Still, Spring is on the way—eventually.

AmeriNZ 331 – Newsy Zealand

amerinz_podcast_1400x1400-2016There’s been a lot of news here in New Zealand, but the two biggest stories were probably not widely reported overseas. So, first I begin talking about sport (yes, really!): The America’s Cup and the British and Irish Lions Tour to New Zealand. I mainly talk about stuff that provides some background and context to those stories, and why they matter for New Zealand.

The New Zealand general election is drawing ever closer, and a new poll is out. How did National and Labour fare? How did New Zealand First, which I talked about last time, do? And, what does all of this imply for the results of the election?

On the other hand, I probably won’t have anything more to say about it until the middle of January at the earliest, and there are a couple reasons for that. Everything else is going well.

AmeriNZ 321 – Seasons

AmeriNZ_Podcast_EP321_1400x1400-EDITThis episode was recorded on Tuesday, but I couldn’t post it until today due to major problems with this site. The problems were kind of complicated, though ultimately simple to fix, but it took me two days to figure it out. And I think I have.

This is now the tenth season of the AmeriNZ Podcast, but that’s not the only reason this episode is called “Seasons”. Today’s main topic is about why that is, and what turns out to have been the main reason I struggled so much to record new episodes.

But first, last time I said I’d blog about the final results of the second NZ Flag Referendum, and a link to that is in the shownotes for this episode. There really wasn’t any change from the results of the preliminary results.

We’re also in the midst of our local elections. My friend Richard Hills is a candidate for re-election to our Local Board, and is also running for Auckland Council.
