Governor Quitter us up next, then it’s on to real news: The crazy opposition to the Supreme Court nomination of Sonia Sotomayor. Arthur prefers liberal justices (even though Sotomayor isn’t one). We then move on to healtcare reform and then the economy. We got out first 5-star review on iTunes! Arthur was feeling a little under the weather today, but says that Jason more than made up for it.

2PP_Album_art_small Jason’s special days are just fun ones today—nothing too serious, which is good, because we start today with a real nutcase and I follow that with something from another. This leads to a discussion of extremists, both on the left and the right. How does extremism relate to terrorism? One of the extremist groups we talk about is in trouble in Australia. We also talk about the influence of the right wing media. There’s also some New Zealand political news this week!

After the discussion, we have comments on our previous episode. That raises topics we discuss. Finally, Arthur provides an update on swine flu in New Zealand.

Then, I update the story about the alleged “HIV predator”. That lets me mention a couple things about legal stuff in New Zealand. Finally, New Zealand has been ranked the most peaceful nation in the world. A comment, and I’m done.

This is the first time I’ve been able to record two episodes in one week since early April—time for more updates! First, a new law requiring that immigration consultants be licensed has caused problems for some migrants. The Auckland “super city” legislation is now before Parliament. What are the most boring things that people can talk about? I apply it to podcasts. Do I have any listeners in the UK? Phone messages let me expand on topics.

AmeriNZ 155 – Today is tomorrow

amerinz_podcast_150x150 It’s been nearly two weeks since my last solo podcast, so I thought today I’d update some things. I start by telling you what we did for Mothers’ Day (Fathers’ Day in NZ/Aus is the First Sunday in September). As winter begins, I tell you about news items: First, Auckland was ranked the fourth most liveable city in the world (Kiwis don’t care about that, really). Another survey found New Zealand was the 8th happiest country in the world out of ten. New statistics are out about marriages and civil unions. Who would the New Zealand Prime Minister “turn gay” for?

May is New Zealand Music Month, and if I can locate enough podsafe artists I may put together an episode sometime before the end of the month. At the end of June, I’ll be joining other GLBT podcasters in Pride48 in which we’ll all be doing live-streaming shows over Pride Weekend, starting at 7pm US Eastern Time on June 26. I don’t know what time I’ll be doing the live show, but I’ll let you know. There will also be a live chatroom so you can chat with me and other listeners.
