AmeriNZ 255 – Big doings

I reveal some big news in this episode—AFTER some news updates and such. Because I can. But if you’re impatient or just not interested, fast forward to around 12 minutes. There will be more detail later this week.

The news segment today is about political polling and a bit about economics and international trade (yeah, really). It’s a short episode, too.

AmeriNZ 254 – User Defined Content

Yes, I think I remember how to podcast… After a brief update on NZ news, today’s episode is all about you! Well, maybe not you personally, but listeners’ comments and questions. It’s a podcasting potpourri!

I’ll be back MUCH sooner than this time!

AmeriNZ 253 – Missing holiday

It’s a bumper holiday weekend edition! And by that I mean, it’s just longer than usual. I begin today by talking about the four-day Easter holiday weekend in New Zealand. We were robbed of a fifth holiday this weekend. Next, I talk a bit about our previous weekend.

My main topic today is an extensive NZ election update. First, I set the stage by describing the situation, before talking about polling and offer some opinions as to why it is as it is. When I talked about List candidates, I accidentally skipped over an important part. Do you know what it is?

Once again, phone and written comments let me expand on the issues discussed.

Join Nigel for his The Third Colony show on Saturday, April 23 at 9pm EDT (Americas; 1pm Sunday, April 24 NZ).

AmeriNZ Podcast Special – Christchurch One Month Later

It’s been exactly four weeks since the Christchurch earthquake. In this Special, I mark that as a transition to the next phase—recovery and rebuilding. I talk a bit about last Friday’s Nation Commemoration Service, the situation in Christchurch now, and where I think Christchurch is headed. Despite it all, I see plenty of reason for hope. I also share a couple phone messages of support I received.

I hope to have another, regular podcast later this week, if I can find a way to upload a file.

AmeriNZ 248 – Dark Days

This is a special edition of the AmeriNZ Podcast: All about the Christchurch Earthquake. I share a few observations and offer a few suggestions, but mostly I share what the prime ministers of various Commonwealth countries had to say, including the New Zealand prime minister.

Back next week with a normal podcast.

I’ll be joining Nigel for his The Third Colony show on Saturday, February 26 at 9pm EST (Americas; 3pm Sunday, February 27 NZDT).

AmeriNZ 247 – Tomato sauce

Today I have a few things I forgot to mention last time, and comments give me the opportunity to expand some more. But I start with some items from the New Zealand news before my first “Election Watch 2011” report.

AmeriNZ 246 – Home truths

I start today with a couple items from the news in this part of the world: A major cyclone about to hit Queensland and also the NZ prime minister has just announced the date of the 2011 NZ elections. But the main topic, about NZ houses, was inspired by a phone message. Comments, and my responses, are extensive (which I always like).

AmeriNZ 243 – And relax

I’m finally back after a huge amount of work, and can finally relax. Time to update things! I begin with some updates about the podcast, including that I’m not going to do a live show in December or January and probably not after that, either. Then it’s on to updates about things in the New Zealand news, including the mine disaster. I have an update about us, too.

Nigel may do his The Third Colony show on Saturday, December 18 at 9pm EST (Americas; 3pm Sunday, December 19 NZDT).

AmeriNZ 233 – Distance subdued

The earthquake in Christchurch was a very big deal, but it was kinda weird how I heard about it. Social networks really helped. In some ways, it was all the flipside of an episode I did two years ago.

After that, I have some general life updates, along with a plethora of phone comments—listeners answered the call! My live shows may be close to returning.

AmeriNZ 231 – Thanks and No Thanks

amerinz_podcast_150x150My first topic today is a blog post of an expat American who’s leaving New Zealand. I see it as a cautionary tale, so I go over my 3 “rules” for being an expat. In other words, I give you my advice about being an expat—including a couple things I shouldn’t have done. Some election news is in the middle. Then, an email provides me a topic: Expats voting in their home country. Should they? Which elections? Comments on the site round out the episode, as usual.

Thanks to everyone who offered support and encouragement! I’m absolutely not quitting—but new things are coming!
