Governor Quitter us up next, then it’s on to real news: The crazy opposition to the Supreme Court nomination of Sonia Sotomayor. Arthur prefers liberal justices (even though Sotomayor isn’t one). We then move on to healtcare reform and then the economy. We got out first 5-star review on iTunes! Arthur was feeling a little under the weather today, but says that Jason more than made up for it.

amerinz_podcast_150x150 This is a LONG episode! It’s the recorded version of a live show Nigel and I did on the Pride 48 Stream on Saturday afternoon, which was Friday evening in North America. We thought more people would be able to take part than last time, and we were right! This is a show about nothing, just a chat among a variety of folks—not all of them podcasters.

If we do this again, they’ll either be shorter or I’ll split them, but this time I didn’t plan for that. There are a few other minor details to perfect, too—like content, for example. Seriously, it was all just a bit of fun, and completely different from the regular podcast. It’s nice to take a break sometimes.

Plans are to repeat this not just next year, but also in 6 months or so. In the meantime, several podcasters are going to continue doing live shows, and this podcast may be one of them. I’ll let you know in advance if that happens.

This leads to a discussion of extremists, both on the left and the right. How does extremism relate to terrorism? One of the extremist groups we talk about is in trouble in Australia. We also talk about the influence of the right wing media. There’s also some New Zealand political news this week!

After the discussion, we have comments on our previous episode. That raises topics we discuss. Finally, Arthur provides an update on swine flu in New Zealand.
