AmeriNZ 398 – 17 and 28

amerinz_podcast_1400x1400-2016Today’s episode is named after two anniversaries: Today is the seventeenth anniversary of my blog, and yesterday was the 28th anniversary of when I first arrived in New Zealand as a tourist, when Nigel and I met in person for the first time. This coming weekend is also the final Pride 48 Live Streaming Event, and I reminisce and opine about podcasting. Then, I briefly talk about a small project outside. Finally, I share a funny (to me) story form New Zealand’s news.

AmeriNZ 385 – ‘Wet, whiny, inward-looking country’

amerinz_podcast_1400x1400-2016Lots of weirdness in New Zealand since the last episode. New Zealand’s Leader of the Opposition made yet another really stupid remark and has been desperately trying to spin it since—unsuccessfully. He has a habit of saying really dumb things. A public meeting in New Zealand was taken over by conspiracy theorists. An online reporter for RNZ edited wire service stories to promote Russian propaganda, among other odd things. RNZ is still investigating. In positive news, I recently had routine health evaluations and everything was okay.

Then, I talk about my personal organisation system after using it for three months. Has it worked?

AmeriNZ 381 – Royal May

amerinz_podcast_1400x1400-2016Today I have THREE topics! First is a citizenship path (finally!) for New Zealanders living in Australia, then how the rich in New Zealand aren’t paying their fair share of tax (and how the NZ news media didn’t handle either topic very well). Then, the coronation of the King of New Zealand. I’ll be watching, but the oath of allegiance is stupid.

AmeriNZ 296 – Preparing

I start today talking about New Zealand broadcaster Paul Holmes, who died today. Meanwhile, we’re waiting for stuff. Then, I give an update about the select committee hearing oral submissions on the marriage equality bill. I have some strong views; you may disagree, so feel free to comment. A record number of Kiwis are leaving for Australia. But the Big Mac Index says the NZ dollar is pretty good.

There are several ways to send me an audio message—this earlier post lists them.

AmeriNZ 251 – Fifth Season

Today is the first podcast of my Fifth Season! Monday was my Fourth Podoversary, so this is now my fifth year of podcasting. I begin by talking a bit about April Fool’s Day and a little prank I played. Then I talk about some things in the NZ news, starting with Christchurch and moving on to a political scandal.

After that, it’s on to a discussion of the recent flurry of activity in US immigration law, which ended up right back where it started. I have strong feelings about this and, yes, it’s personal.

Comments round out this episode—and this week. Back next week!

AmeriNZ 194 – At home

amerinz_podcast_150x150Today I have a couple unusual stories: A New Zealand radio host came out on a live nationwide broadcast. That lets me talk a bit about gay people on television in NZ. Ramble Redhead has a question about poo. Comments let me make what I hope are my final comments on the Australian KFC commercial. My voice is a bit croaky today—sorry.

I hope to resume the live podcasts soon. Check back here or on the podcast Twitter feed, http://twitter.com/AmeriNZPodcast.
