AmeriNZ 162 – Pride 48 Saturday

pride48_125x125Nigel and I recorded live on Pride 48 Saturday night, and this is the recording of that show. It’s a different kind of podcast, and we had a lot of fun.

I’ll be live-streaming again on Pride 48 at 4AM EDT (USA) today, Sunday, June 28. You can see the complete schedule at pride48.com, and you can change the times listed to your local time zone.

Podcasting live this weekend

pride48_125x125This weekend I’ll be podcasting live as part of Pride 48, a weekend-long podcasting extravaganza lasting until Sunday evening (US time). It’s being held as part of the celebrations of Gay and Lesbian Pride, which is this weekend.

My shows will be at 7pm tonight, Saturday, NZ time, and the second one will be tomorrow, Sunday, at 8pm NZ time. I’ll be recording to tonight’s and will post it as a podcast episode, and may do the same with Sunday’s.

For a complete schedule (which can be adjusted to local time), you can go to Pride 48.com, where there’s also a chatroom function.

AmeriNZ 161 – Have and Have Not

amerinz_podcast_150x150Today I talk first about a couple expat-related things, and I share one of the biggest realities of being an expat. Then, it’s the main topic—talking about some of the things we have/don’t have in New Zealand vs. the US. That means I can tell you more about life in New Zealand. Comments let me give some updates on Pride 48.

I will be live-streaming on Pride 48 at 3AM EDT (USA) Saturday, June 27 and again 4AM EDT (USA) Sunday, June 28. If you go to http://pride48.com/ShowSchedule.aspx you can see the complete schedule, and even change the times listed to your local time zone.

AmeriNZ 158 – Super Friday

amerinz_podcast_150x150This is my last podcast for May, and we’re about to have a holiday weekend—(Every) Queen’s Birthday. Today I start by telling you about some NZ news, including the arrest of an alleged “HIV predator”. The Prop 8 decision has had some reaction in this part of the world, where the debate is different. Today I also share my feeling on how we move forward.

AmeriNZ 157 – Jury’s Out

amerinz_podcast_150x150I’m optimistic about today’s episode. It begins with some news—both mine and New Zealand’s. The talk of jury service last time generated a few comments, so I researched it a little more and today I tell you more about jury service in New Zealand. Finally, I have a few updates, including one related to Pride 48.

2PP006 – 5 May 2009

2PP_Album_art_smallJason’s special days span the globe, but Arthur adds one from space. We begin talking about the flu outbreak, especially how the media did in reporting about it. Was New Zealand’s media coverage any different? From there it’s a discussion of President Obama’s first 100 days, which then leads to a discussion of Arlen Specter changing parties and the two main parties generally. Arthur mentions a podcaster’s challenge, and why the right just doesn’t “get” new media or the Internet Age.

There are extensive comments on the last episode, so we don’t read them all. Instead, we talk about them and the topics they raise. Back in 2 weeks!

AmeriNZ 153 – After the holiday

amerinz_podcast_150x150Easter and our holiday are over, so it’s back to normal. I begin by talking about some useless information about Easter, then a bit about our time off. Then, finally, I tell you a bit about the new Auckland, and that features some special commentary. Be back later this week with a 2Political Podcast.

AmeriNZ 144 – NZ bits

amerinz_podcast_150x150I begin today with a few notes and updates, especially about the Australian bush fires. Then, a gay NZ politician is moving onto the world stage. The former Prime Minister may, too. The “politicasts” are becoming a separate podcast called “2 Political” (but I’ll still post them to AmeriNZ for awhile, anyway). The posts to Podomatic will end on March 27. Yesterday was the final day of the “Internet Blackout” campaign, and I tell you what that was all about and the development that cancelled yesterday’s podcast. I’ll be posting my two-year anniversary episode on Friday, March 27.

AmeriNZ 143 – Politicast on the Stimulus

We’re finally back with our first Politicast since January. First up today, we announce the name for the new stand-alone political podcast we’re doing. Then it’s on to the economic stimulus, which President Obama signed into law today. We talk about some of the implications, and Jason also presents his ideas for helping ordinary homeowners. That leads to a talk of banks and the financial markets. Despite it all, we end on a positive note.

AmeriNZ 142 – Strange Days

It’s been a bit unusual lately, especially the tropical weather in Auckland. But the big news here has been the Australian bush fires. I tell you a bit about that, especially New Zealand’s response. A voicemail lets me talk about schools in New Zealand and also whether it’s easier for GLBT people here than in the US. It’s a multi-faceted episode today!
