AmeriNZ 214 – Unusual subject

amerinz_podcast_150x150It’s my busiest week, but I took some time out to talk with you. I have a very unusual subject this week, which is introduced by a voicemail message. To start out, I tell you a story from my childhood, which then leads into the main topic. Have any other podcasters talked about this topic?

Archerr will be doing a live show on Pride 48 at 7:30pm Thursday US time (11:30am Friday NZ time)..

AmeriNZ 213 – Restart

amerinz_podcast_150x150After some introductory blather, I tell you about the sad Anzac Day this year. From there I move on the other NZ news, far less serious, but I sneak in a more serious thing, too. And more silliness. A phone comment lets me update an earlier episode.

Archerr may be taking over all the Thursday live shows. Stay tuned.

AmeriNZ 212 – Tough go shopping

amerinz_podcast_150x150First up today I have an important announcement. Then, it’s all about me—as it should be, of course. I tell you about my Adventure Shopping, and then correct what may have been a grievous error (or not). I also tell you how old Bella is, and have some fun at the expense of other podcasters.

Note: I will not be doing a live show this week.

Archerr will do a live group show on Pride 48 starting at 8:00pm Eastern North American time on Thursday, April 29 (Noon Friday, April 30 New Zealand time). You can join other listeners in the chatroom, where you can also ask questions or make comments as the show is streamed.

AmeriNZ 210 – US Immigration Equality

amerinz_podcast_150x150The United States’ anti-gay immigration policy is “gratuitous cruelty,” according to US Representative Jerold Nadler, the chief sponsor of the Uniting American Families Act in the US House of Representatives. What’s happening to make US immigration law treat GLBT Americans fairly and equally, as many other countries—such as New Zealand—already do?

Joining me today to discuss that is Julie Kruse of Immigration Equality, an organisation dedicated to changing the law and helping bi-national couples.

Julie talks about the current state of the effort to change the law, as well as related issues. For example, how do issues like the Defense of Marriage Act affect immigration reform? How does the effort to make US immigration law treat GLBT people equally relate to comprehensive immigration reform? Ultimately, what’s the prospect for reforming US immigration law?

For me, this was an interesting and informative talk about an issue that affects me personally. Unfortunately, I made an error in the audio settings and the sound isn’t as good as it could’ve been. This is an interview I really enjoyed doing.

AmeriNZ 209 – Fourth Season Begins

amerinz_podcast_150x150This is the start of the “fourth season” of the AmeriNZ Podcast! I start today with some breaking news. Also, an American product will be made in New Zealand (for us, of course). It’s a four-day holiday weekend, and we’ll be busy—having fun!

I have a lot of work on right now, but I’m also working on the Pride 48 live podcasting marathon and getting ready for that I have some updates on something I’ll be doing, something in the news and something I think is interesting (in a funny kind of way). You may need to wash your ears afterward.

Archerr will do a live group show on Pride 48 starting at 8:00pm Eastern North American time on Thursday, April 1 (1:00pm Friday, April 2 New Zealand time). You can also join other listeners in the chatroom, where you can also ask questions or make comments as the show is streamed. I’ll be back as host the following week.

AmeriNZ 207 – The Last Question

amerinz_podcast_150x150It’s the final episode in the AmeriNZ Podcast Anniversary week. Reminder: All entries must be sent by Midnight (Eastern American Time) on Friday, March 26, 2010.

There was no live show this week.

A significant dinosaur was found in Australia. A little-known American actor is causing trouble in NZ. Competition questions actually provide topics.

Archerr will do a live group show on Pride 48 starting at 8:00pm Eastern North American time on Thursday, April 1 (1:00pm Friday, April 2 New Zealand time). You can also join other listeners in the chatroom, where you can also ask questions or make comments as the show is streamed.

AmeriNZ 206 – Wednesthursday

amerinz_podcast_150x150The AmeriNZ Podcast’s Anniversary Month continues! Each recorded audio podcast this month will have at least one question and answer. All you have to do is write down the question number and the correct answer. Once you have five correct questions/answers, send them to me by fax or email. Every correct entry will go in the draw to win a Kiwi Prize Pack of things from New Zealand. You can enter as often as you like, but each entry must have five different correct questions/answers. I also mix it up a bit, so be on the lookout for extra questions. All entries must be sent by Midnight (Eastern American Time) on Friday, March 26, 2010.

Okay, so I skipped yesterday. I make up for it today, question-wise. After talking a bit about how the NZ House of Representatives operates differently than the US one does. Then, I talk a bit about some things from the news: Mining conservation land, Auckland International Airport and “Blog Idol”. I also talk a bit more about nz.history.net.nz.

Another recorded episode tomorrow.

I’ll be doing a live group show on Pride 48 starting at 8:00pm Eastern North American time on Thursday, March 25 (1:00pm Friday, March 26 New Zealand time). You can also join other listeners in the chatroom, where you can also ask questions or make comments as the show is streamed. Archerr will be hosting the live show the following week.

AmeriNZ 205 – Some more differences

amerinz_podcast_150x150The AmeriNZ Podcast’s Anniversary Month continues with a week of daily podcasts—Day Two! Each recorded audio podcast this month will have at least one question and answer. All you have to do is write down the question number and the correct answer. Once you have five correct questions/answers, send them to me by fax or email. Every correct entry will go in the draw to win a Kiwi Prize Pack including things from New Zealand. You can enter as often as you like, but each entry must have five different correct questions/answers. I also mix it up a bit, so be on the lookout for extra questions. All entries must be sent by Midnight (Eastern American Time) on Friday, March 26, 2010.

Today I talk about some more differences between NZ and the US. First, I talk about healthcare (since the US House just passed reform in the US). Then, I compare the two forms of a government a little bit. It’s a short episode (I recorded a 2Political episode not long before…).

More tomorrow! A 2Political episode will be posted soon. There will be a live show this week AND a special interview. Whew!

AmeriNZ 204 – Big Fatty was wrong

amerinz_podcast_150x150The AmeriNZ Podcast’s Anniversary Month continues with a week of daily podcasts! Each recorded audio podcast this month will have at least one question and answer. All you have to do is write down the question number and the correct answer. Once you have five correct questions/answers, send them to me by the end of the month. Every correct entry will go in the draw to win a Kiwi Prize Pack including things from New Zealand. You can enter as often as you like, but each entry must have five different correct questions/answers. I also mix it up a bit, so be on the lookout for extra questions.

I have an unusual topic today: A US article about when not to use debit cards. This lets me compare and contrast some everyday things between the US and New Zealand. But before that, I have been wronged by Big Fatty.

More tomorrow! A 2Political episode is coming soon, there will be a live show this week AND a special interview. Whew!
