Ep221-Art200I have both New Zealand updates AND a short topic today. Not only that, it’s my second podcast this week! I can’t remember the last time I did that. After NZ news (including an update), it’s on to today’s short topic: There are some unusual things I miss about the US, and today’s show art shows one (thanks for the photo, Lord Byron of Illinois!). I talk about that and a few other random things—not the sort of things that most people think about. Comments let me further comment on an earlier topic.

AmeriNZ 220 – Getting things done

Then some Members of Parliament are in trouble over their spending. A Kiwi television show is about to be re-imagined for US television, so I talk about that and British programmes re-done for America. AmeriNZ 219 – Wintry Wednesday

Today I tell you about our holiday weekend, then it’s on to some things from the news: Will Riff Raff be allowed to live in New Zealand? Will the hooker get to keep the bank’s millions? Will the mail still make through the gloom six days a week? Will pendants succeed in locking-down the English language? Will I think of another question to ask?

Something in the PO Box, a phone comment, a written one and my first Audioboo, all in one episode! Great value for the price you pay! (yes, I’m being silly today).

AmeriNZ 216 – Recovery Mode

amerinz_podcast_150x150I’m in recovery—my cold is passing! I tell you what I’ve been up to (busy—a surprise, I know). Then I tell you a bit about Pride 48 and some of what I’ve been working on. This podcast is now played on Pride 48.com. It means that I MUST now do two podcasts a week! I explain why.

From there it’s some bits from the New Zealand news: A trans-friendly proposal for the next NZ Census, the budget and some observations about NZ politics. I play an example to talk about how NZ journalists are far less deferential to elected politicians than US journalists are.

Comments round out this episode before I’m done for this week. I’ll be back twice next week!

AmeriNZ 211 – Finding Things

amerinz_podcast_150x150I’m back, after a VERY busy time. In today’s episode, I talk about some things we found.

First, there’s the new addition to the family, Bella. I tell you about her, and how she came to live with us. Then it’s on to something I mentioned in my last regular episode: A store in Auckland that sells imported American products. I also have a story from the news and tell you about some video podcasts I’m working on and will be posting soon.

All you have to do is write down the question number and the correct answer. Once you have five correct questions/answers, send them to me by fax or email. Every correct entry will go in the draw to win a Kiwi Prize Pack of things from New Zealand. You can enter as often as you like, but each entry must have five different correct questions/answers. I also mix it up a bit, so be on the lookout for extra questions. All entries must be sent by Midnight (Eastern American Time) on Friday, March 26, 2010.

Okay, so I skipped yesterday. I make up for it today, question-wise. After talking a bit about how the NZ House of Representatives operates differently than the US one does. Then, I talk a bit about some things from the news: Mining conservation land, Auckland International Airport and “Blog Idol”. I also talk a bit more about nz.history.net.nz.
